Does Palin for VP Mean I'm Voting for McCain?

In a word...no.

Yes, Palin is certainly the best possible candidate McCain could have chosen to try and win back the conservative base that has been sorely disappointed in McCain winning the nomination.

Yes, she does appear to have some real credentials in terms of libertarian, small-government philosophy.

Yes, she is a staunch 2nd amendment supporter, and she is staunchly pro-life.

All things for which I approve of.

But that doesn't mean I'm gonna vote for the McCain/Palin ticket, because if there's one thing we can be certain of, it's this: no matter how conservative or libertarian Palin is in philosophy and governance style, she will STILL be forced to toe the McCain party line should they win the election...which would of course maintain the status quo of expanding of the Federal Government's size, scope and power.

Finally, whether this was a blatant pander to disenchanted Hillary supporters, or not, the following quote gives us insight into this ladies ideology when it comes to gender politics:

"It was rightly noted in Denver this week that Hillary left 18 million cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America. But it turns out the women of America aren't finished yet, and we can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all!"

That line sounds like a feminist in conservative/libertarian clothing to me.

"None of the Above" still sounds like the best ticket in 2008 to me.

EXACTLY.

And any possibility I had of voting for McCain was DESTROYED when she and the whole Republican Party, started playing the SEXISM CARD because the media was bing "too harsh" or that Joe Biden should treat her with Kid Gloves during the debate.

THAT sounds an awful like that PUSSY PASS that they she is supporting and I am NOT going to abide with tha- no matter how much I agree with her political philosophy.

And I'm tired of them playing the MOTHER CARD- as if that is a qualification for public office. Why not mention that McCain is a Father as well? Or the other candidates?

Is not McCacin the father of 7 children? yet all we hear is Sarah is a mother of 5 ergo she is ready to be VP.

Saray Palin is an appealing candidate with her political positions, but to me she is nothing more than a more palatable version of feminism- what with the sexism and mother card and the she is just like a man with her hunting and stuff.

Nope. I'm good.

And you are correct taht she will end up towing the party line and compromise her political positions.

I'm not buying off on this either. Palin is McCain's version of Condoleezza Rice. She will bark, roll over and play dead on command. I can't believe so many conservative voters are getting fooled again. They have forgotten everything about Bush and the Republicans over the last eight to ten years. They are falling for the same old same old lesser of two evils trick.

Agreed TBA - also, look at all the liberal manginas and feminists criticizing her for DARING to pursue a career when she has a family to care for! As if there's no way she could be VP, because her husband is certainly not capable of being the stay-at-home parent while she works in D.C.

I do have to admit to enjoying her speech and her criticisms of Obama and Biden and the Democrats in general though...lol. Didn't watch it, but I did read the transcript.

I do wonder how much of her political views are tainted by feminism...or is she merely pandering to the female vote by using the language that any National politician must use to get the Female majority vote?

I do have to hand it to McCain, choosing Palin was still a brilliant political maneuver and it most certainly puts the entire Liberal/Democrat/Feminist axis in a quandary...as all of their pro- "Hillary as the first woman and her historical campaign" garbage will come back to bite them in the ass when they try to attack Palin.

I'm still not voting for McCain though...

AGREED.

I actually think that the pick will win McCain the election because a) it will allow women and white men who dislike Obama to voting against Barack's historic campaign and not feel like a racist while at the same time voting for ANOTHER Historic political achievement.
As appealing as Sarah Palin is, I can't vote for an individual who plays the Sexism Card after she rebuked Hillary Clinton for doing the same thing, saying that she was whining.

bob Barr is getting my vote- or I'll write Ron Paul in on the Ballot.

I also like Ann Coulter's take on Palin:

They claimed Palin was chosen only because she's a woman. In fact, Palin was chosen because she's pro-life, pro-gun, pro-drilling and pro-tax cuts. She's fought both Republicans and Democrats on public corruption and does not have hair plugs like some other vice presidential candidate I could mention. In other words, she's a "Republican."

As a right-winger, Palin will appeal to the narrow 59 percent of Americans who voted for another former small-market sportscaster: Ronald Reagan. Our motto: Sarah Palin is only a heartbeat away!

{For right now, that's about the only positive thing I can get out of a McCain victory... - HL}

If you're going to say Palin was chosen because she's a woman, you're going to have to demonstrate that the runners-up were more qualified. Gov. Tim Pawlenty seems like a terrific fellow and fine governor, but he is not obviously more qualified than Palin.

As for former governor of Pennsylvania Tom Ridge and Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, the other also-rans, I can think of at least 40 million unborn reasons she's better than either of them.

Aside from her political positions, I will say that one of the BIGGEST POSITIVES that Sarah Palin will bring to the table as a woman is that she displays that a female politician can actually be FEMININE.
When you look at most of the female politicians- ESPECIALLY Hillary Clinton- most of them work hard to try to look and act like men and be masculine rather than be a woman.
Sarah has a certain grace about herself, even while she was attacking Barack Obama during her speech last night. She is not a SHRILL and angry woman. What's more, she actually wears SKIRTS and has long hair- unlike Hillary's Pantsuits and bobbed hair.
A female politician who is young, beautiful, has a winning personality, actually wears her hair long and isn't afraid to wear skirts- Sarah Palin is a BREATH OF FRESH AIR.

I'm still not going to vote for her and McCain because they sound too much like whining Democrats when it comes to the Sexism Card, and I dislike the the WORSHIP of the fact that she is a Mother (as if it's unimportant that some male politicians are FATHERS). Why is motherhood a qualification for female politicians but fatherhood is not.???

I meant to say IN ADDITION TO.

Excellent points TBA - a FEMININE woman - and PROUD mother of an intact, nuclear family. Gotta love how she is currently driving the left wing feminazi's batshit insane! LOL

I've got to say, I love the fact that nominating Palin has put NOW and other feminist orginizations in quite the quandry. Here is a woman who completely espouses all they claim they want for women (strong, capable, independent), yet so far, she doesn't toe their party line dogma. The only thing that they can attack with, is that she isn't being a proper mother. I'm sorry, dad seems rather capable to me. Ooops, forgot, men are incapable of being good parents. Just ask a feminist. :)
