The entire criminology department of the OIUT is infested with feminists: check out the credentials of the faculty and staff.

The fact that they are forced to acknowledge the existence of FR and MR activism indicates the growing acceptance and strength of said activism.Davouthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11679094598013542866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4256367009985298221.post-19096993397600267762008-08-16T10:04:00.000-07:002008-08-16T10:04:00.000-07:00"Social patriarchy refers to a sex/gender system i..."Social patriarchy refers to a sex/gender system in which men dominate women and what is considered masculine is more highly valued than what is considered feminine."

Part of my edumakation as a Comp Sci geek included courses in logic. For this statement to be true, both halves have to resolve to true. So let's see what happens:

Social patriarchy refers to a sex/gender system in which men dominate women...

Okay, I think I can agree with that, although I'd bicker about the connotations of "domination".

...and what is considered masculine is more highly valued than what is considered feminine.

This statement is untrue on its face. Moreover, I don't know of a single FRA or anti-VAWA activist that devalues the feminine and elevates the masculine. More likely they are respected as two sides of the same human coin.

Ergo, her compound statement "A AND B" is untrue because, while A is true, B is not.

Besides, what are feminine and masculine traits these days in the USA? Can she even tell us?

So far, what I'm seeing is another feminist attempt to construct a strawman and proceed to knock it down.

"Patriarchy is a system of social stratification...

Oh, dear, out comes the Marxism...

...which means that it uses a wide array of social control policies and practices to ratify male power and to keep girls and women subordinate to men."

Um, no. While patriarchy places limits on female sexual behavior, men are not unconstrained as Mizz Feminist appears to allege. Male sexual behavior is limited too, in that they are held "responsible" for the support of their families.

Does she really think that holding a man responsible to his family is really a position of superiority over them? I don't call a person who has a sacrificial duty to someone else as being "superior" to them. Is a servant (a man) superior to his master (his wife and children)?Elusive Wapitihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16825547465295622621noreply@blogger.com
