Usually, people cling to their conventional wisdom, because...well...it just HAS to be wrong!

In a way, I empathize....I remember the very first time I saw something online (I don't even remember where,) that said "eat all the bacon, eggs, steak, shrimp, oysters, fish, ham, sausage, cheese you want...and lose weight! Never count calories again! You don't even need to exercise!

It sounded too good to be true.

Only now do I realize that eating "FAT FREE" or "REDUCED FAT" food as the "key to health and weight loss," is really the pernicious lie that sounds too good to be true.Keoni Galthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00842553742723239151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4256367009985298221.post-87229804644025145532009-07-09T16:24:00.040-07:002009-07-09T16:24:00.040-07:00I usually just lurk on your blog, but simply had t...I usually just lurk on your blog, but simply had to tell you how wonderful this post is. Since coming across the Weston Price Foundation several years ago, my husband and I have switched our diets and have enjoyed wonderful health ever since. Both of us have never felt or looked better than we have since going high fat/high protein and our daughter has done wonderfully on the diet as well. Our daughter was born a few weeks early, but in perfect health and quite large considering her early arrival and she never had so much as a drop of formula as this diet makes the milk very plentiful. My husband and I both credit this diet & the Brewer's Diet guidelines for my easy pregnancy, our daughter's quick & successful natural birth, my breastfeeding success for our goal of 2 years, and our daughter's continuing excellent health. She's been ill exactly one time in her life: an ear infection last December.

Oh, and I must add, neither my husband nor myself can keep the weight on, despite the conventional wisdom which would claim we'd be fat and unhealthy while eating grassfed beef, drinking lots of raw milk, and using coconut oil as our oil of choice. ;o)

I am especially intrigued about "following the money" behind the standard American diet as I have celiac disease & a soy allergy and am well aware that *many* other people are walking around undiagnosed as I once was. Nearly every meal in American contains wheat or another glutenous grain in some form and even without symptoms of the illness, one's health is adversely effected. I'm convinced the reason many folks feel better while doing Atkins or another low carb diet is due to an undiagnosed food allergy, intolerance, or full blown celiac disease. A grain/carb heavy diet promotes poor health as is, but especially when very common food allergies come into play. Gluten, corn, and soy are among the most prevalent food allergens and they are in *everything* that is a processed "food" product....

Thank you for yet another fantastic post on the "diet deceptions". Hopefully more people will wake up and begin to question the mainstream wisdom!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08380491283652150727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4256367009985298221.post-55038983574556541952009-07-09T13:52:55.467-07:002009-07-09T13:52:55.467-07:00Oh yeah Mr. M....been reading up on the daily appl...Oh yeah Mr. M....been reading up on the daily apple for about a month or so. While my main source of info that I used as a guideline for my own dietary changes was the Weston Price Foundation. When I discovered Mark's daily apple, and began reading through his archives, I realized that I pretty much have switched to a paleo diet...I just never called it that. :)Keoni Galthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00842553742723239151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4256367009985298221.post-66032555428192760822009-07-09T12:02:23.194-07:002009-07-09T12:02:23.194-07:00I'd like to see just who it was that REALLY fi...I'd like to see just who it was that REALLY financed the NIH to conduct this study with the willing dupes in the AARP...let's just say I wouldn't doubt it if somehow the money trail eventually got back to giant food/agriculture producers.

That's exactly the same thing I was thinking while reading this post.

Its really depressing seeing how brainwashed (and at the very least, unwilling to try new things) sheeple are. I try to talk to some people I know, in this case specifically about dietary concerns, and i get the same ol "saturated fats BAD, avoid like the plague" nonsense. For no other reason than it is "common knowledge," as one person put it.

Not to detract from your post or blog, but I stumbled upon this website while searching for info re: high fat low carb diets:

http://www.marksdailyapple.com/

Its a little gimmicky, but informative nonetheless.Mr.Mnoreply@blogger.com
